Our Story
The Walled Garden - our unique microclimate in South Devon
There has been a walled garden on this site for over 200 years and we are the lucky custodians of it. We began major restoration of the garden in 2018 and since then have been growing traditional crops and plants while experimenting with more rare and exotic varietals that thrive in the warmth and shelter of the south facing enclosure.
Gardens: a shared obsession
We are passionate about gardens, gardening and finding sustainable methods to recreate the old ways of land cultivation and care.
We run the garden, rental and events business and our offshoot creative projects as a family team. Chris and Carmen were joined by baby Billy in 2022.
As well as running The Walled Garden, Chris is an internationally-recognised Sound Designer and Carmen has enjoyed a career in heritage project management and dabbles in small-scale soap and natural beauty product production.
In our spare time we love to create funny (sometimes informative) videos for Instagram, and in August 2023 were featured on BBC Gardener’s World.
